Department of History was established since the year of establishment of the college in 1946 just one year before the India’s Independence. Bachelor of Arts (History) Programme is a 3 year, full time Programme, which is allocated to six semesters. It offers specialization in History with six core subjects and three subjects in combination with Psychology, Political Science, Hindi, Marathi or Philosophy.

It goals to familiarize the students with nearby, country wide and worldwide information. The consciousness of the Programme is on the records of personalities, activities and ideas that described the past and paved the way for the making of the triumphing. It goals to broaden among the beginners numerous hobbies in historic activities and approaches. It attempts to introduce the scholars to multiple perspectives which may be embraced to understand historic ideas and occasions. It also gives training in historical technique alongside an exposure to allied disciplines like Archaeology, Museology and Conservation, Cultural Studies and Tourism. History is the never-ending communication between the past and the present. It is a systematic narrative of the evolution of human civilization from the earliest of instances to the existing. It is the inquiry not handiest insight about the political realm of the earlier societies however in addition to their social, cultural, administrative and economic aspects. It is that which gives an overall view which in turn facilitates our understanding about the present and plan for the future. As a social science, History encompass the regional, national and international perspectives. The subject of history stands for the exploration of our rich history. It unfolds the graph of human development through the ages.

The Department is continuously running on an assignment to create ardor for Historical consciousness and giving knowledge steering for college students about employability.

It organizes various student-centric and subject-oriented activities within the class throughout the academic year for the development of the students of the college as the future citizens of India.

    The Department organizes various co-curricular activities via History Association. The association affords platform for the discussion at the Ancient, Medieval, Modern and Contemporary subject matters. It conducts various competitions like Poster Competition, Essay Competition, Short Film / Documentary making competition, Debate Competition, Elocution competition, Quiz Competition, Class room activities of teaching and learning, Micro-teaching, Research oriented workshops, seminars, conferences, Career Guidance Programme and Study Tours etc.

    A student completing Bachelor’s Degree in B. A. program in the subject of History will be able to:

    PSO-1

    Write a term paper/ Research paper. Students will be able to learn skills such as writing research papers, articles, taking references, paraphrasing it, doing literature review, data collection, interpretation analysis, and conclusions.

    PSO-2

    Acquire Historical Knowledge. Students of History will gain Historical knowledge through reading reference books, archival sources, journals, articles, etc.

    PSO-3

    Utilize modern tools for Historical Interpretation. students shall be able to utilize e-resources, modern archives, digital libraries as a modern tool of usage

    PSO-4

    Foster their personality and shall learn the true way of adhering to democratic environment. Students shall be able to understand rights and duties mentioned in the Constitution of India.

    PSO-5

    Visit and interpret about Heritage and Historical Places. Student shall be able to learn and understand practical applications of Historical theories, evidences, sources, and events by visiting libraries, archives, historical places. Through that they can learn certain specific field visits, surveys, explorations etc.

    Learn to use Encyclopedia for better generation of researchable Historical ideas. Students shall be able to understand conceptual frameworks of full explanations and various theories, and interdisciplinary approaches of important concepts.

    Set the Chronology for Comparative studies. The students shall be able to learn historical events chronologically, with comparative analysis.

    Strengthen the Intellectual Ability of Students to understand the Ideologies of important Historical Personalities.
