The Department of Commerce was started in the year 1981 with few hundred students. With the passage of time the department has grown by leaps and bounds and at present there are 4 divisions of F.Y.B.Com, S.Y.B.Com and T.Y.B.Com as well. There are 1500 students admitted in various subjects of commerce for the academic year 2022-23.
The course commerce is taught in all three years of undergraduate commerce degree programme with additional one and two applied component papers in S.Y.B.Com and T.Y.B.Com respectively.
The College has been granted Autonomous status from the Academic Year 2020-21. The Department of Commerce had taken initiative and updated the syllabi of F.Y.B.Com, S.Y.B.Com which has been successfully implemented from the academic year 2021-22 and 2022-23 respectively. The syllabus of T.Y.B.Com has been updated which will be implemented from the academic year 2023-24.
The Department every year organizes guest lectures, seminars, field visit taking into requirement of the courses in commerce stream for imparting a better understanding and insight of the course to the students as well as assist them to apply theoretical knowledge to practice. The faculty of the department regularly participates in seminars, workshops, faculty development programmes and conferences.

Bhavans Chamber of Commerce (BCC) is the association of Department of Commerce and Accountancy. It is an association for Commerce Students. BCC has been established to achieve the following objectives:
BCC organizes various activities which are student centric such as competitions, guest lectures, field visits, report writing, minutes writing, poster making competitions etc., BCC also organizes annual fest for commerce students “Vanijyam – The Fest”. Students hold the reins of the fest under the able guidance of faculty of commerce and accountancy and by doing the following activities there is an improvement in their overall personality development
