Department of B.Sc. Biotechnology

Overview

...

The Department of Biotechnology at Bhavan’s College established in 2002.The admissions of students are merit based at undergraduate level. Physics, chemistry and Biology are the basic subjects requirement to be eligible for admission. The non-mathematics students will attend a skill enhancement training as Bridge course in Elementary Mathematics and statistics. Interested undergraduate, post-graduate students as well as faculty undertake research projects as part of their curricular and co-curricular activities. The department strives to create an academic environment and best of it which supports students for their higher education in India and abroad and to get good profile jobs. The curriculum aims to provide a platform for biotechnology students and enables them to prepare for lifelong learning, by nurturing independent thinking, initiating scientific enquiry and developing their entrepreneurship skills thereby enhancing their employability.

Objectives

The department focus on creating students with good knowledge in subject with its application to make students fit for higher studies and acquire good jobs in industries and respectful position in research institutes and organizations. Biotechnology has its applications in almost every field touching practically every human activity. The applied aspect of Biotechnology is now getting established with its applications in Industry, Agriculture, Health and Environment, Biotechnology is the lead science expanding exponentially. Biotechnology demands a trained, skilled human resource to establish the Industry and Research sectors. It objective it to support various research projects that gives practical approach to the students and brings out insight of the scientific approach in the students.
