Overview

Accounting is an exciting and challenging field that continues to be renovated by current events, globalization, and information technology. Such forces are changing the nature of accounting work and adding to the already large number of job prospects. Ongoing changes to the monitoring environment, including tax laws, have created wide-ranging opportunities for Commerce Graduates in a variety of locations across the world. The Department of Accountancy creates a thought-provoking environment for the academic progress of its students and provides them with a thorough understanding of a range of subjects such as Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, Management Accounting, Auditing and Taxation at Under-Graduate Level in the faculty of commerce. The Faculty Members of the Department are known for their expertise in the above-mentioned areas. Interwoven into teaching practices is the goal of nurturing in students a sense of responsibility towards society, in particular those sections of the population that are underprivileged. In line with this emphasis, the classroom space is democratic and one in which differences in opinions are respected. Most importantly, teachers remain available to students at all times.

Objectives

  • To introduce and train the students in Taxation and Auditing concepts.
  • To encourage students to take up higher studies and research in Accountancy and Taxation.

PO A student completing Bachelor’s Degree Commerce program will be able to :

After completing three years for Bachelors in Commerce (B.Com) program, students would be well versed in the concepts and fundamentals of Accounts and Finance.

PO-2

The Accounting and finance focused curriculum offers a number of specializations and practical exposures which would equip the student to face the modern-day challenges in Entrepreneurship, Corporate world, business and would get a good foothold in the Industry

The all inclusive outlook of the course offers a number of value based and job oriented courses which ensures that students are trained into up to date with the use of latest technology. In advanced accounting course beyond the introductory level, effective development will ensure progress to the value addition at all organization levels.

PSO A student completing Bachelor’s Degree in B.Com. program in the subject of Accountancy and Financial Management will be able to:

Students will be able to demonstrate progressive learning of various tax issues and tax forms related to individuals. Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge in setting up a computerized set of accounting books. And also basic proficiency in investment decision making.
